HOOYO MACAAN is a women-founded and women-led NGO. Established in 2018, it is registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Co-ordination Act of 1990 as a Non-Governmental Organization under the Laws of Kenya. Its primary goal is to assist vulnerable communities in Nairobi, Garissa, Tana River, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos, Lamu, Isiolo, Nyeri, Samburu, Kwale, Kilifi, and Wajir Counties. The organization plans to expand its services to other communities nationwide and to impart knowledge and expertise through mentorship, skills transfer, and coaching of organizational leaders.
Mission: To improve the quality of life of vulnerable populations through a holistic, people-first approach.
Vision: A society where all individuals, particularly the marginalized, have equal opportunities to thrive.
Key Activities:
- Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid: Engaging in protections for human rights and addressing humanitarian issues, including drought and disaster prevention.
- Community Development: Developing basic social services, water and sanitation infrastructure, and promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and mitigation.
- Economic Empowerment: Creating employment opportunities and income-generating projects for youth, women, and rural communities to reduce poverty and contribute to national development goals.
- Capacity Building: Providing training, research, and capacity building to locals to support good governance and advocacy for human rights.
